Colchester Borough Council is providing support for residents, businesses and communities throughout winter.
Taxi ranks
Only Colchester licensed Hackney Carriages (Taxis) can use the ranks in Colchester.
There are three designated Hackney Carriage (Taxi) ranks in Colchester city centre:
| High Street | 21 vehicles | Outside Red Lion Hotel (opposite Red Lion Books) |
| Head Street | 4/6 vehicles | Outside the former Debenhams building (opposite the Odeon cinema) |
| Queen Street (between 6pm and 6am only) (check hours). | 2 vehicles | Outside Colchester City Church/Priory Walk |
There are also private ranks at Colchester Railway Station (North Station) on both the north and south side of the station. To use these ranks Hackney Carriage drivers must have a permit from the landowner.
