Reviews

We work with licence holders and responsible authorities, such as the police and environmental protection officers, to help them run their premises in line with the licensing objectives. Most issues are resolved informally. But if problems continue, anyone can request a licence review.

Who can request a review

A review can be requested by:

• a responsible authority (such as the police or council departments)
• any other person, including residents or local businesses

There is no fee to request a review.

What happens when a review is requested

When the council receives a valid application for review, a 28-day consultation period begins.

During this time:

• a notice is displayed at the premises and at the council offices
• the notice will explain the reason for the review and the deadline to send comments

Making a representation

Anyone can submit a representation to support or oppose the review. Your comments must relate to one or more of the 4 licensing objectives:

• the prevention of crime and disorder
• public safety
• the prevention of public nuisance
• the protection of children from harm

What happens after the consultation

At the end of the 28-day consultation, the Licensing Sub-Committee will consider the application and any representations.

The committee can decide to:

• make no changes
• change the licence conditions
• suspend the licence
• revoke the licence
